CS Concert Broadcast: Music at the Anthology—10th Anniversary Celebration
In 1996, composers Philip Glass, Eleonor Sandresky, and Lisa Bielawa created Music at the Anthology as an advocacy vehicle for young composers--presenting their pieces on a week-long festival held each spring in New York City. To date, MATA has commissioned 39 works, and has presented over 120 performances of pieces by composers such as Gordon Beeferman, Derek Bermel, Nick Brooke, Annie Gosfield, Patrick Grant, Nico Muhly and many more.
In honor of Music at the Anthology's 10th anniversary season, we've put together a highlight reel of world premiere concert recordings drawn from a decade's worth of MATA festival performances. We hope you enjoy the ride.

CS Concert Broadcast: ACO/Penn Presents New Music Readings
Welcome to Counterstream Radio's premiere concert broadcast. To kick things off, we present the American Composers Orchestra's ACO/Penn Presents New Music Readings concert recorded live in the Prince Theater at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on April 14.
This was the first year this performance and professional development opportunity for Philadelphia-area composers was held, and five composers, all in the early stages of their professional careers, were selected to participate. Over the course of the next hour, we'll hear work by Michael Djupstrom, John B. Hedges, David Laganella, Greg Spears, and Alan Tormey. Preceding each piece, the composers themselves speak briefly about their work with the evening's MC, ACO Artistic Director Robert Beaser. Conductor Jeffrey Milarsky is on the podium leading the ACO.
This program was made possible due to the generosity of the participating composers, ACO musicians and administration, and with support from the Argosy Foundation Contemporary Music Fund and The New York State Music Fund, established by the New York State Attorney General at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
